start building

the hardest thing often is simply the act of getting started. we can often hold an idealized version of project in our heads, and the anxiety of living up to the expectation can stop us before we even start. there is also the perennial question of “the right timing,” or having the right skills or level of proficiency.

though it can be hard to feel this on an emotional level, there is virtually no downside to start making something relative to any of these concerns. the sooner you can start building, the sooner you can set aside your abstract consideration of your project and ground yourself in the actual work of doing it. if you fail on your first attempt, that attempt will provide you far more knowledge than any attempt to abstractly plan out your execution of the thing a priori.
